Vintage Replica Early American Primitive 1800s Mid 19th Century Antique Oil Painted Cotton Cloth Head Doll with Red & White Plaid Dress
Measures roughly 22" long. Good patina, and all fabric is sturdy & pliable (as opposed to brittle from age). Significant degree of age-related yellowing of lightly colored fabric. Purchased in the late 1980s or early 1990s from an artist/dealer in Cape Cod. The shoes are several decades old, yet they're "new" insomuch as they're added-on, and not original...this was discovered while inspecting & appraising...the shoes have a soft, synthetic look & feel. When taken off, the tag reads "Made in China size newborn," indicating this is either a reproduction, or the shoes were added after its initial production (most likely both former and latter cases apply). This is an absolutely beautiful & exquisite piece representing this period & niche. It's rare to find one of this caliber. Sold as pictured.
