Black, Star & Gorham 1940’s Brown Leather and Hardwood PLAYING CARD DECK BOX

Very rare and elegant Playing Cards Box from 1942. Royal Brown Leather with Gold Gilt Trim and Maple or some other hardwood inside/inner 2 compartment card deck holder. Deck goes in loose, half in one pocket, half in the other. Think of this luxury leather and wood box from Luxury 5th Avenue New York City Jeweler Black, Star & Gorham (which has been out-of-business for a long time) as a fancy poker or blackjack tableside card holder in a speakeasy. This could also be a living room tableside bridge cards’ holder. Dimensions 4” tall 3 1/4” wide, 2 5/8” wide. “BLACK, STAR & GORHAM” is written on the felt bottom of this 83 year old refined box in gold gilt. Look carefully to see leather is finely stitched. Could even hold other things besides playing cards, up to you. Weighs 7 ounces. Could even be left empty as just a wonderful period piece, historical piece.
