Rare early Japanese tinplate optical toy featuring colorful lithographed battle scenes with soldiers, cavalry, and naval ships. When the top knob is spun, the internal picture disc rotates and creates a moving panorama effect when viewed through the oval windows. A great example of early pre-animation toys similar to a zoetrope.

This piece measures approx. 2.5" tall and features bright original litho graphics. The internal rotating disc is still present and turns when the top knob is moved, but it is a bit off-center. The center shaft has come free from the bottom inside (see close-up photo), but it still spins. Shows typical age-related wear, scuffs, and patina from decades of storage, but overall displays beautifully.

Perfect for collectors of antique tin toys, Japanese lithographed toys, optical toys, or early animation history.

Condition: Vintage/used. Wear consistent with age. See photos for details.
Size: approx. 1 3/4" tall × 3" across.
Age: ca. 1920s–1930s.
