VTG 1950-70s Chinese Yichang Pottery Factory Black Stallion Horse Statue Zodiac

For your consideration is this beautiful vintage Black Stallion Horse figural centerpiece made from a rich, brown clay. This took a bit of time to track down the origin. Similar sold comps found reveal this is a product of Yichang Painted Pottery Factory, founded in Yichang, Hubei Province, China during 1950s. A photo of the label they used is provided in the listing's photo as a reference. This was most likely produced to commemorate the Chinese Year of the Horse (1954, 1966, and 1978). It is very similar in style and shape as many American made TV figurines and is a great size to place on one's bookshelves. The horse piece measures 8.75 inches long x 2.3 inches wide x 8.25 inches tall, and weighs 2 pounds 4.2 ounces. The pottery is finished off with a black finish with brown drip glaze added to the mane and tail. All surfaces, except for bottom, are highly glossed. Great and hard-to-find pottery piece for zodiac enthusiasts and collectors of international pottery.
